The Community of Vavenby is located 27 km
northeast of Clearwater. Forestry is the primary industry with a large
portion of its approximately 700 residents working for Weyerhaeuser or
Slocan Lumber Mills that are in Vavenby.
Recreation in the community consists mainly of outdoor activities. Among
these activities are snowmobiling, tobogganing on old logging roads,
horseback riding, hiking and fishing. Numerous
lakes are in close proximity with many of them having forestry
campgrounds.
